An IPL photofacial targets the pigment and redness that make skin look older and tired: sun spots, age spots, freckling and the flushed, ruddy tone of broken capillaries. Over a short course, your skin looks clearer, brighter and more even, and it takes very little out of your day.
IPL is not suitable for every skin type, and it works best on skin that has not been recently tanned. Your consultation confirms whether it is right for you. Individual results vary.
IPL stands for intense pulsed light. It sends gentle pulses of light into the skin, where the pigment in brown spots and the redness in tiny broken vessels absorb it. Those spots and that redness break down and clear over the following weeks, leaving skin that looks more even, brighter and fresher. It treats the discolouration that creams and serums simply cannot reach.
Sun spots, age spots and patchy pigment lift and clear, so your natural, even tone shows through again.
The diffuse redness and broken capillaries that come with rosacea-type skin are softened and reduced.
As the discolouration clears, skin looks smoother, brighter and more uniform, with a healthier glow.
The areas that show sun damage most are all treatable, so your skin matches from face to decolletage.
A session takes around twenty to thirty minutes and most people head straight back to their day.
IPL is not right for every skin type. A physician-led assessment checks it is safe and suitable for you first.
IPL works gradually as the treated pigment and redness clear. Here is the honest timeline for most people.

IPL is priced per session, and sun damage and redness usually respond best over a short course rather than a single visit. At your free consultation we look at your skin, explain how many sessions it is likely to take, and agree a clear plan and price before anything goes ahead.
No surprises. You will know exactly what you are paying, and for how many sessions, before you decide anything.
We look at the sun damage, spots or redness that bother you, check IPL is safe for your skin type, and explain the plan and the price. If it is not the right treatment for you, we will say so.
You wear protective eyewear, and we pass the handpiece over the area. Most people describe each pulse as a light, warm snap. A session is usually twenty to thirty minutes.
Spots darken then flake away over a week or so, redness settles, and your tone looks brighter and more even. We plan any further sessions around how your skin responds.

Goodlettsville, TN
IPL is powerful, and on the wrong skin type or the wrong settings it can do more harm than good. That is exactly why the assessment comes first. Antiaging Medspa is a physician-led practice in Goodlettsville, with Dr. Peter Geleskie as our physician, so your skin is judged and treated by a medically trained team, not guessed at.
If IPL is not the right treatment for your skin, we will tell you honestly and talk you through what would work better. The consultation is there to get you the right result, not to sell you a session.

IPL works best on lighter skin that has not been recently tanned, because it targets the contrast between the pigment and your natural tone. On darker or tanned skin it can be less safe and less effective. That is the whole reason we assess your skin first. If IPL is not right for you, we will tell you honestly and suggest something that is.
Most people describe each pulse as a light, warm snap, a bit like a rubber band flick that fades quickly. It is very tolerable, the session is short, and we can cool the skin to keep you comfortable.
Very little. Your skin may look slightly pink for a few hours, and brown spots often darken before they flake away over the following week. Most people carry on with their day and cover any temporary darkening with light makeup if they wish.
Sun damage and redness usually respond best to a short course of a few sessions spaced a few weeks apart, rather than a single visit. At your consultation we will give you an honest view of how many your skin is likely to need.
It is best to avoid IPL on recently tanned skin, so we usually advise waiting until any tan has faded, and keeping the area out of the sun afterwards. We will talk you through the right timing for you.
The face is the most common, but IPL also works well on the neck, chest and the backs of the hands, which is where sun damage often shows most. We can treat one area or plan a combination.
